Raleigh, NC – Thomas A. Gray and Chad A. Sharkey have recently been named partners by the Raleigh law firm of Smith Debnam Narron Drake Saintsing & Myers, L.L.P. Both Mr. Gray and Mr. Sharkey have been Associates with the firm’s Construction and Leasing practice group, Mr. Gray since 2004 and Mr. Sharkey since 2002. They concentrate their practices in the areas of commercial litigation, equipment leasing and finance, construction law and creditors’ rights.
Tom Gray has maintained his practice concentration in commercial litigation and creditors’ rights since 1998. Mr. Gray represents a variety of businesses and individuals through all stages of commercial litigation. He represents clients in the construction industry, including general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers of labor and materials. His representation includes protection of client’s rights to payment on construction projects, contract review and transactional advice, filing and enforcing liens, and representation of clients in litigation, arbitration, and mediation. Mr. Gray also represents national and local equipment leasing companies and their financing sources seeking to enforce their rights pursuant to the lease, including the recovery of amounts due, recovery of equipment, and representation of creditors in bankruptcy court.
Chad Sharkey has been practicing since 2000. Mr. Sharkey primarily concentrates his practice in commercial litigation with an emphasis on creditor’s rights. His practice includes creditor representation in commercial bankruptcy cases and the defense of preference actions, as well as representation of suppliers, contractors, and sub-contractors in construction litigation cases. His practice also includes the representation of equipment lessors, lender liability litigation, and general business litigation. Mr. Sharkey is experienced in handling a variety of legal matters for small and large business clients, including drafting contracts and leases and structuring secured transactions. He regularly represents construction industry clients, equipment lessors and other creditors in various commercial proceedings including state and federal court litigation, claim and delivery hearings, arbitrations and mediations. Mr. Sharkey is experienced in representing clients before the North Carolina trial courts and Court of Appeals, as well as before the U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts.
