Raleigh, N.C. (Jan. 12, 2018) – Smith Debnam is pleased to announce that Creditors’ Rights Litigation Operations Manager Paulene Scott has been named President of the Raleigh-Wake Paralegal Association for 2018-2019. Her two-year term began on January 1, 2018.
The mission of the Raleigh-Wake Paralegal Association (RWPA), which consists of approximately 100 members, is to “enhance professionalism and fraternity among legal assistants in the Wake County area” through regular member meetings while also making contributions to its community.
Ms. Scott has been a member of RWPA since 2008 and has served on the board for the past five years in various leadership capacities, including Social Chair and 2nd Vice President of Education. In her role as president, Ms. Scott will serve as the general manager of the Association and supervise, direct, and control its activities and affairs. She will also oversee RWPA officers and preside at all member and board meetings.
Other Smith Debnam Paralegals currently serving on the RWPA Board include Ashley Hudson as Social Chair, Chris Wear as Webmaster, and Cindy McGhee as Parliamentarian/Historian.
Ms. Scott has been with Smith Debnam since 2000. She completed the Paralegal Studies Program through UNC Wilmington in 2003 and has been a North Carolina State Bar Certified Paralegal since 2007. In addition to her involvement with RWPA, Ms. Scott is also the current Pro Bono Chair and Mentor Chair for the North Carolina Paralegal Association.
