Smith Debnam recently concluded their 4th Annual American Red Cross Fundraising Campaign. In just two weeks, the firm exceeded their original goal of $14,000 and raised over $20,500 through the generous donations of their employees combined with a dollar for dollar match by the partners of the firm.
Smith Debnam pioneered the first Triangle-area direct fundraising effort benefiting the American Red Cross in 2007. Bucking the national trend of declining charitable donations, Smith Debnam’s campaign contributions were up over 60% from last year, with 76% of the firm’s employees contributing toward the pledge goal.
To encourage support, the firm organized fundraising activities including a luncheon, a department challenge, and raffled prizes, many donated by area retailers. “Everyone at Smith Debnam gets excited about this effort,” said Jerry Myers, Managing Partner. “We recognize and appreciate the tremendous impact that the Triangle American Red Cross has in our own community, as well as around the world.”
Smith Debnam also organizes two Red Cross blood drives each year for its employees and collects an average of 25 units of blood per event. Each unit of blood can save three lives.
