Bush Legacy Lives On Through Americans With Disabilities Act - Smith Debnam https://t.co/hkF1ndJEvy https://t.co/hRE3r0BSfU
Smith Debnam recently concluded their 5th Annual American Red Cross Fundraising Campaign. In just two weeks, the firm exceeded their fundraising goal of $16,000 and raised nearly $27,000 for the American Red Cross – Triangle Area Chapter through the generous donations of their employees combined with a dollar for dollar match by the partners of the law firm.
In 2007 Smith Debnam pioneered the first Triangle-area direct fundraising effort benefiting the American Red Cross. Bucking the national trend of declining charitable donations, Smith Debnam’s campaign contributions were up over 31% from last year, with over three fourths of the firm’s employees contributing toward the pledge goal.
To encourage support, the firm organized fundraising activities including a luncheon, a department challenge, and raffled prizes, many donated by area retailers. “This continues to be an event that our entire firm enjoys participating in each year,” said Jerry Myers, Managing Partner. “The weather-related disasters this area has seen in 2011 serve to underscore the tremendously important role of the American Red Cross and how critical it is that our entire community join with us in supporting their work.”
Smith Debnam also organizes two Red Cross blood drives each year for its employees and collects an average of 25 units of blood per event. The American Red Cross estimates that each unit of blood donated can save three lives. The firm has also trained over 10% of its employees to be able to respond with CPR and AED use in an emergency medical situation.
