Paralegal – Commercial Real Estate

The Commercial Real Estate Paralegal is primarily responsible for gathering client information to draft contracts and leases, as well as drafting proper resolutions, non-foreign affidavits, deeds with permitted exceptions, and tenant estoppels. The CRE Paralegal will also order titles and conduct initial reviews to prepare preliminary opinions for attorney review.

Essential Responsibilities

• Establish checklists and intake for each file for attorney review
• Open and organize client information within our billing system, Orion, and prepare physical file
• Request entity documents and create signature lines
• Present suggestions for current processes and procedures that result in improved efficiency
• Review contracts for deadlines and set-up reminders on appropriate calendars
• Review commitment for errors, changes, and requirements; request documents necessary to meet or eliminate requirements
• Collaborate with title company regarding any title errors/issues and adjust documents for correction
• Process proration of rents and taxes in accordance with terms
• Prepare fees, title insurance, and document recording fees
• Request proper dues, payoffs, and vendor invoices
• Prepare closing instruction letters and update and record executed documents
• Provide other general office duties to include copying, faxing, scanning documents, data entry, answering phones, and working with practicing attorneys.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrated understanding and strong working knowledge of the Commercial Real Estate process
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a Paralegal in Commercial Real Estate
• Excellent critical thinking and organizational skills
• Ability to read plots and maps and understand numbers in a settlement statement
• Proven experience working independently with strong attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
