Garret is a member of the firm’s Consumer Financial Services Compliance & Litigation practice group. Described as diligent, enthusiastic, and someone always willing to go the extra mile by his colleagues and peers, Garret focuses his practice on assisting clients with pre-suit negotiations, litigation, and advocacy in matters involving consumer financial services litigation and compliance, bankruptcy, and commercial litigation.
Garret approaches every case with a clear understanding of the client’s goals. Motivated by building and maintaining personal relationships, Garret enjoys learning about his clients’ businesses and organizational structures, information he deems essential in determining the best, most effective approach for solving their legal challenges and protecting their interests well into the future. He follows the maxim that an attorney has to be flexible because not every problem or issue is what it seems. Clients appreciate his upfront manner with every aspect of their case. Among his clients and colleagues alike, Garret is known for his hardworking and organized personality, as well as his tenacity to push through stressful moments. He credits a goal-oriented mentality mixed with old-fashioned grit for his unflappable diligence and determination exhibited in his work.
Garret is originally from Pennsylvania but decided to brave the cold Western New York winters for his undergraduate degree. He obtained a dual degree in Business Administration and Political Science from Houghton College in 2017. While at college, Garret was a starter on the baseball team all four years. He consistently ranked as one of the top offensive players for his team and played multiple positions including catcher and right field.
After college, Garret moved south for law school and earned his Juris Doctor from Liberty University School of Law in Lynchburg, Virginia. While in law school, he was a competition member for the school’s Trial Team and a member of the ADR Board. He also obtained a concentration in property law and was actively involved in the trial advocacy program.
Following law school, Garret continued his move further south to North Carolina. Taking advantage of the warm weather, he enjoys golfing, mountain biking, and finding local coffee shops around the Triangle.
“I enjoy learning new things and solving complex problems. Every single case gives me a chance to do both. As attorneys, we are always learning and honing our skills, and I love that it never ends. The law is ever-changing, and every case gives me a chance to help someone. Solving other people’s problems through creative and efficient solutions is fun and challenging at the same time.”
