Raleigh, N.C. (October 5, 2023) — Smith Debnam is pleased to announce that Christina McAlpin Taylor, a partner at the firm, has been elected to the East Carolina University (ECU) Foundation Board of Directors for a four-year term. The ECU Foundation Board is the governing body for the ECU Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit organization focused on philanthropic initiatives to support the university.

The ECU Foundation Board of Directors seeks individuals who are passionate supporters of East Carolina University and possess the expertise necessary to provide fiduciary oversight and contribute to the Foundation’s strategic direction. Taylor has demonstrated her commitment to ECU through her involvement in the university community and philanthropic investments.

With her appointment to the ECU Foundation Board of Directors, Taylor will play an active role in shaping the Foundation’s philanthropic initiatives and enhancing the university’s stature both locally and abroad. Her experience in the field of law, specifically in creditors’ rights, will be valuable in supporting the Recruitment & Engagement Committee, a subcommittee of the ECU Foundation Board that focuses on recruiting and training new directors to ensure active director engagement in the foundation’s mission.

“It is a great honor to serve on the Board of Directors for the ECU Foundation,” says Christina. “I am excited about the opportunity to participate in philanthropic events and promote awareness of the exceptional programs offered at ECU. Let’s support our university and its amazing initiatives! Go, Pirates!”

An accomplished attorney known for handling a large volume of cases with precision and grace, Taylor represents a wide range of businesses through all stages of creditor representation, including pre-suit collection efforts, lawsuits, judgments, and executions. She earned her Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University Law School and a bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University. Taylor is a member of several esteemed legal associations, including the North Carolina Bar Association, Commercial Law League of America, National Creditors Bar Association, North Carolina Creditors’ Bar, and the Wake County Bar Association.
