Raleigh, N.C. (April 7, 2021) – Smith Debnam today announced that Creditors’ Rights Attorney Christina McAlpin Taylor has been appointed to serve on the East Carolina University (ECU) Women’s Roundtable Board of Directors. Taylor is a graduate of ECU with a Bachelor of Science in Family and Community Studies and a minor in Business Management.
The ECU Women’s Roundtable promotes the mission of ECU by funding student scholarships and building leadership and service capacity among women. Through its work, the Board aims to support East Carolina University and the community-at-large in three strategic areas: Student Success, Public Service, and Regional Transportation. By creating a culture of giving, the Board has been a critical resource for building a solid base of women volunteers who are committed to building a community among women graduates and providing a channel for alumnae to play an active role in shaping the future of the region, state, and nation. Taylor’s four-year term on the Board will begin in July of this year.
“I am incredibly honored to serve on the ECU Women’s Roundtable Board of Directors and for the opportunity to work on these important initiatives with my fellow board members,” says Taylor. “I am thankful for all I learned while at ECU and grateful it’s finally my turn to give back to an institution that has meant so much to me.”
Taylor is a partner at Smith Debnam and a member of the firm’s creditors’ rights practice group. She represents a wide range of financial institutions and businesses through all stages of creditor representation, including pre-suit collection efforts, lawsuits, judgments, and executions. In 2016, Taylor was named to the 25 Most Influential Women in Collections by Collection Advisor Magazine. In 2020, she was named to the 2020 class of East Carolina University’s 40 Under Forty Leadership Awards.
