RALEIGH, N.C. (August 20, 2026) – Smith Debnam Managing Partner Jerry T. Myers has been recognized in the 2027 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® for Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law.
For more than 30 years, Myers has represented creditors in debt collection, judgment enforcement, commercial litigation, regulatory compliance, licensing, and related business matters. His work has extended beyond individual client matters to developing creditors’ rights practice in North Carolina and nationally.
Myers served as president of the Commercial Law League of America and was instrumental in forming the North Carolina Creditors’ Bar Association. He has also been active with the National Creditors Bar Association, presenting continuing legal education programs and serving on committees. His teaching and writing have included programs for Wake Forest University School of Law and the North Carolina Bar Foundation, as well as authorship and contributions to treatises on collections, judgment enforcement, and commercial law.
Myers has been recognized by Best Lawyers since 2024 and was again selected to North Carolina Super Lawyers in 2026. He earned his J.D. and bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and an associate degree, summa cum laude, from Wingate University. He is admitted to practice in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
